1993 Bontrager Race

It seems Bontragers are very much "in" these days. This is my third Bontrager Race in as many months, however this is first complete custom ordered project for a customer in Australia. This is a rather early example of the Race, similar to the Race Lite I had late last year. It still has the segmented rear stays and the front derailleur cable pulley, all in all a very nice example.

The bike came to me as a frame with Mag-21 LT and a few small bits and pieces. After a few iterations of parts selection we settled on a clean M900 XTR build and swapped the Mag-21 LT for an SL Ti, topped it off with a CK headset, Bontrager stem and Titec Titanium handlebar.

I must say that of the three Bontys that have passed through my "shop" I am most impressed with this one. I'm not sure if it's the color or the way this one seemed to come together so easily, but it's my favorite. I hope it brings a lot of fun to its new owner.
