1992 Yeti Ultimate final photo shoot

Well, the Ulti is gone and all that remains are find memories and some cool photos. But, there may be another one coming so all is well!

Update on M900 XTR crankset refinishing

Here are some pics of the M900 cranks post polish and clear anodizing. The finish is not 100% uniform and there is some work to do in the polishing and anodizing process, but it's pretty good for a first try.

The still need the decal and coat of satin clear.

1992 Yeti Ultimate build complete

Tah-Dah!!! She's done and she's glorious!!! Going with all black components was definitely the right choice, I can't believe I even thought about a silver build at one point in time. This color combo is infinitely better!

Drivetrain is now augmented with Bullseye hubs on NOS Specialized GX23 rims using double butted 14/15G spokes on the front and non-drive side rear with 14G straight gauge spokes on the drive side wrapped in reproduction Panaracer Timbuk II tires. Bullseye cranks with freshly rebuilt bearings and nice black Shimano SG rings really complete the package. The overall package is just awesome and to top it off it rides like the stink!!

1992 Yeti Ultimate update

Could more fixes on the Ulti, nice nearly new M730 XT post, a shorter ATAC stem, black chainrings, complete no-logo CK headset... just waiting on new Specialized BX-23 rims and it's complete.

1990 Klein Attitude XL - "The Bruiser"

Started doing some preparatory work on a 1990 Klein Attitude. I'm dubbing this bike The Bruiser not only due to its size, but also as a result of the fight it's putting up along the way. So far four of the six rivnuts used to hold the water bottle bolts have spun in the frame with the bolts still inside them, both of the rear brake bosses have snapped off and all of the cable housing ferrules were fused to the frame. Fortunately the latter all came out...

First order of business was to remove the housing ferrules which were stuck inside the cable inlets. One trick I found with these is to soak them in PB Blast or another penetrating fluid and then try to gently twist them with a drill motor using a slightly oversize drill bit. Once they spin inside the inlets you can add more penetrating fluid, spin them again and then they should be able to be persuaded out with a pair of grippy needle nose pliers.

All better...

Next I tried to clean up some of the chainsuck. Final fill and smoothing will be done during paint after a chemical strip of the existing paint.

Then some clean up of the corrosion areas around cable entry and exit points.

The paint in the front of the bike is extremely thick. You can see the layers in a couple of the pics.

Next, extract the broken rear brake bosses and replace the spun rivnuts, actually I'll just replace all six.

1996 Klein Attitude Nightstorm

I need to get this bike built soon so I figure posting it up will motivate me. This is my second Attitude done by Jon Rock and it's definitely a looker!! It will get a fairly regular build with M737 XT and maybe a couple nice bits like turquoise Chris King hubs or something like that.

1996 Yo Eddy Chameleon Metallica final photo shoot

Finally a nice day down here in the south bay and no better time to do a couple photo shoots of the freshly completed 96 Yo Eddy (still waiting on a correct brake cable hanger). Ended up taking the bike for a long spin and visited some of the favorite spots, the results speak for themselves!

Here are a few select photos:

Moro photos including some details (I may have gotten a bit carried away):
